Greetings!

I finally get to publish Griffin's images with the flag we took last month. Yesterday, Playboy featured her article, which included our photography. The banner in this issue will always be in my top .1% of favorite images.

I put together a video of the making of those images below. It was certainly a fun and creative shoot. Any of the shots with Griffin and the flag are $50 prints in 11x17 or 17x22. And think about it. That’s less than going out to eat even once, but the print lasts a lifetime.

Of course, I’ve shot with the flag before, as have most photographers. I generally thought it was a little cheesy and a worn-out cliche. We approached it with respect, and it became art better than I could have imagined!

Griffin’s moment that triggered her to write her article about the flag for Playboy was a post I put on so-so media a couple of months ago. I had decided to remove my old glories from my two residences until I was proud of them again. I hope to live long enough to do that, but we shall see. I am an old fart. And I do miss my flag flying!

The year is three weeks in, and so far, so good! While the rest of the country north of Arizona gets snow and temperatures I can’t even comprehend, we are not exactly toasty, yet short sleeves still work. I’ll take it.

I wonder if anyone else is having this problem. My keyboard has been spelling just about everything wrong lately. So far, the one-letter words are usually okay, but so much of it comes out in a Kingon dialect I don’t recognize. I’m thankful for Grammarly, other than it constantly pointing out how much of a great writer I am not.

We just had Rebecca come from California for a two-day visit. We visited the railroad park and had an epic shoot in the studio before she headed home. The image in this issue with her on the floor with the typewriter will also live in the .1% favorites.

I have a few shoots on the books, and I hope February fills up with at least a few more. Elley has been out of action for a bit, and we hope to get together for a few shoots soon. And Griffin, as well as a few others, are due for some creativity. Well, I’m sure they are being creative, but with me. (grin)

Well, until next week, stay warm, happy, and comfortable. Have a cookie. And more importantly, have some ice cream!!
