Greetings!

Happy Wednesday! Times, they are a-changin’. But we’ll always have art to get lost in when the need arises. Probably more need now and over the next few years than ever. Be sure to have some wine or whisky in hand. I understand that makes the art finer.

This week, a good friend and photographer from Canada is coming to visit. He lands in about an hour, actually, so I have a fun week ahead. I’ve set up three shoots while Denis is here, as well as some good sightseeing adventures. The last time he was here was pre-pandemic, so it’s been a few minutes, and a lot of water has flowed under the bridge.

Last week, I had a chance to visit Todd and his Laughing Moon for their 30th anniversary. I’ve only played two games, so I’m certainly a newcomer. I had the pleasure of meeting Todd’s friends who played with him 30 years ago and many years since. What a fun group of people. If I had had friends like his when I was growing up, I would have had some amazing stories. I expect some weed would have been in my youth, which would have been good as I look back. Somehow, I made it through my whole life without taking any drugs. Now I scratch my head, wondering where I went wrong. Hearing their stories was so fun!

I recently had another chance to shoot with Kerianne in the studio. She’s such a total sweetheart. The older I get, the more my regulars feel like family. I hope I have at least a couple of edits for this issue, but in any case, they will grace the pages soon.

Denis, Linda, and I will be making the long drive to Lake Havasu and spending the day with Elley and our cameras. I’ve missed her little butt for months. She had to take a break and then catch up on her Youtube geology channel afterwards. And, of course, she runs all over the country doing her actress thing, which she’s so great at. So, some new edits that are actually new shots are forthcoming of her.

On the geek side of things, I finally got the new bearings in the motor that runs the blower in my Collins KWS-1 70-year-old transmitter. It works fine now. BUT, like the fool that I am, I gave almost no thought to the fact that there are fiberglass pads all around the inside of the cabinet and I did all of the cleaning and repair work in short sleeves and no mask. Yeah, what an idiot! Later that evening, I could feel the itching start that could only come from fireglass. After flushing my sinuses a couple of times I took a long shower and scrubbed down well. A few days later, I jumped in the car to go to the store, and the steering wheel had some fireglass on it from trips I made while working on the radio. Damn! So kids. Don’t be an idiot around dangerous material. Don’t be a Dave!
