Greetings!
It’s been a bit of a rough week in Lake Wobegon. We lost a wonderful, kind man, and talented Tucson fashion photographer, Neil Peters. He always had a smile and never a cross word to say about anyone. His training of models was world-renowned. If I worked with someone from Tucson and they had worked with Neil, I knew I had someone who was confident and knew her stuff. He was a good ear for those with problems or just low self-esteem. It’s like he had a whole town of daughters. He did think people were living on the other side of the moon. I never argued or said anything. I just smiled and nodded. He will be missed dearly, especially by those around him who loved him and the fashion world. He was undoubtedly the best photographer in Tucson.
That made two long-time good friends, leaving my circle of friends in the last couple of months. All I can say is STOP IT!!! The rest of you have to outlive me! Ya hear?!?! It’s not going to be that long.
I continue to have fun finding new art from old shoots. I did some new ones with Lisa and Marcella this issue. I’m so happy to have an almost unlimited supply of work to browse through to find something nice to edit. And the models don’t seem to mind getting new pictures of themselves to go with the 20-100 selfies they did today. (grin).
I did some with Ziva that are very artistic, by my definition. It's primarily dark, but she gives us the shape. Let me know what you think.
I had a chance to shoot with Violet yesterday, and the results have been very satisfying. The results are shown to the right. Both came from inspirational images we had, yet they don’t look anything like those original images. The prompt to go in a direction was all we needed from them. What any artist can hope is that their art is enjoyed by many and inspires at least a few.
Editing images last night made me put off finishing the Museletter on Tuesday as I often do and schedule it to go out on Wednesday. So it has a fresher smell.
I have two anticipated shoots before next week's issue, which should be outstanding. The models are both breathtaking, so we’ll see. There should be some edits of them and more from yesterday’s shoot with Violet.
Here is a little black Friday sale for those of you who actually ‘read the article’ as it were. (old Playboy joke). I’ll do 11x17 on high-quality luster paper for $50 each if you see anything you'd like to have in print. 50% of any profit goes to the model. The sale only lasts through the weekend. Hey, if someone has been asking what you want for Christmas, or you have someone who might like one or twelve prints, let me know! We can make it happen.
So, happy Thanksgiving to you all, and a safe, healthy and joyful holiday season to you all!!
