Greetings!

Another fine day on this blue-green rock as it spins around the sun at 67,000 miles per hour. And to top that, we are loafing along at 447,000 miles per hour through our galaxy. Keep that in mind as you stop to smell that flower, take a nap, play catch with your kid, or clean up that present your cat left in your slipper. Perspective.

Oh, and I’m on BlueSky now. A new social media that is like Twitter only not as Bitter. (get it?). It came out in Febuary and was designed by the previous owner of Twitter. It is filling up with folks who hate the hate. Join, it’s fun. I’m here.

I’ve been focusing on prints lately. Not only is my printer working flawlessly, I’m building up web pages with a selection of images for you to order from as a collaboration with specific models. My first one is with Griffin. The password is Bunny1701. Prints are available on 11x17 ($75) or 17x22 ($95). Art is meant to be viewed in print, not a glowing screen.

I wasn’t nearly as active in my editing this week. I had some special shoots that were not in my wheelhouse but still took some time to shoot and edit. Hell, row boats don’t have wheelhouses, so I guess everything is out of mine. In any case, they were time-consuming and some were not conducive to adding to my art portfolio, thus not sharing them here.

I am getting better at the grumpy old man thing. It takes more work than I thought it would. It is a bit of the toddler mentality blended into daily life to make a workable grumpy old man. I really should clean my workspaces but once I get going I start playing and they never get cleaned up. And I say ‘no’ more often. Usually when something is asked of me that I don’t want to do. I’ve known how to say no before but I was far more thoughtful and gentle with my refusal. Now it is typically, no, or a creative variation such as nope. I haven’t decided if it is that I know what I do and don’t want to do with what time I have left, or that it simply takes more energy to be gentle and thoughtful when said no. It’s not that I’m lazy. I’m just exhausted from traveling 447,000 mph all day. Whew!

I did do a fun shoot with two models and a wonderful MUA. It is a very conceptual shoot and the four will be fairly easy to pick out from the crowd in the gallery this week. Cool people. And this was the makeup artist’s last shoot ever. She’s going to be a mother and will be working on that full-time.

Sadly, we may be losing one of the best photographer/artists I’ve ever known. Neil Peters (in green) has been a good friend to me and an all-around wonderful human. He has mentored so many models in Tucson and it was always fun to get together for artistic play dates or simply lunch. He’s under home care with family currently. We aren’t done with you yet Neil! So much messy hair to shoot!!
